Valencian Cellar Tours, based in Valencia “the city of light” was formed by Anthony Martin
The idea was to share my experience of visiting vineyards, soak up the ambiance of the vined landscape, historic towns & of course the “taste discovery” of new wines ! I was one of the first to offer wine tours in Valencia in 2008 before industrial tourism/enoturism!
The bodegas are mainly small, boutique, family wineries focusing on quality, this pampering being evident in the glass! The region maintains an authentic old Spanish character & still relatively hidden from the tourist trail!
My wine tours are & were supposed to be singular experience, exciting with surprises, some magic, making people happy, hearing & tasting something new. It isn´t just about good wines but also the people & the place. Small lesser estates are on a warmer level and my no compromise detail and service is what makes your trip special!
Toni, myself, am originally from Ireland not far from St. Patrick’s resting place and although family worked in brewing we had Spanish ties & always drank wine at the dinner table. I have lived in Valencia for many years, exploring vineyards & old towns, meeting growers & tasting the many varied wines. Wine has always been an interest, looking forward to my pilgrimages to vineyards in Spain, France & Italy.
As a member of the Asociación de Sumilleres in Valencia & Wine Tasting Panel of Verema, I regularly taste wines on the market from Spain & attend various Regional & Euro wine fairs during the year. I hold the WSET Advanced Certificate in Wines & Spirits awarded in London, Sommelier Intern. & various other certificates in wine/food inc. Sumiller Vinos de Jerez, Barista Master Class, El Arte Cortar Jamon Cert./5 Jotas, Taller de Queseria Valdemanco & in 2025 “Tastavins” – Vitivinícola Superior. There is so much to learn and I only know a little about this endless subject matter. Spain, like Italy & France offers great wines, cuisine & culture.
In 2022 I decided to craft my own wine, acquiring an old plot of Bobal vines and partnered with a local bodega to produce Martán Wines. This old vineyard landscape and the honest wines produced has been a rewarding yet demanding experience. I welcome you to visit the vines & taste my wines .
My other interests include guitar & I am a keen road cyclist. Having travelled the province extensively, I know the roadmap often better than locals !
